Dr In Jung Lee

Ophthalmologist

Dr In-Jung Lee is an ophthalmologist with subspecialty interests in cataract surgery, corneal disease and surgery, and age-related macular degeneration management.  He is known for his thoughtful, precise clinical approach and his ability to clearly explain conditions and treatment options, ensuring patients feel informed and confident in their care.  

Originally trained as an optometrist, Dr Lee brings a strong appreciation of collaborative care and values close communication with both patients and referring practitioners.  He provides comprehensive ophthalmic care, with particular expertise in anterior segment and corneal conditions as well as medical retinal disease.

Dr Lee completed his medical degree after first undertaking studies in physiology and optometry in Queensland.  He went on to complete specialist ophthalmology training in New Zealand and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) in 2023.  

Following this, Dr Lee undertook dual fellowship training in both corneal surgery and vitreoretinal surgery.  His corneal fellowship in the United Kingdom provided extensive experience in complex corneal disease, corneal transplantation and advanced anterior segment surgery.  He also completed a vitreoretinal fellowship in New Zealand, further developing his expertise in retinal conditions and surgical care.  

Dr Lee holds a public appointment at the Mater Hospital and remains involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and junior doctors.  He has also contributed to charitable surgical programs providing cataract surgery to underserved communities.  

Outside of work, Dr Lee enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, hiking, tennis and music.
